Energy costs are often volatile … but the general trend is upwards.  These costs must be controlled but first we have to understand them … by knowing which parts of our activity consume most energy … and what we might do to reduce this consumption … by knowing whether our processes can be re-configured to use less energy … by knowing how much we pay for our energy … and whether we can get it cheaper …. by knowing whether newer technologies can help.

Did you know …

That a typical one-bar electric fire would be rated at 1kw (the energy it uses in one hour)

That a large, modern wind turbine would typically be rated at 500kW.

That a large, modern fossil fuel power station would be rated at around 1GW (1,000MW).

90% of the world’s energy is provided by fossil fuels

Bio-diesel – a natural renewable fuel - can be made from soya beans, oilseed rape and used chip fat!

If we could fully harness it, the amount of energy poured onto the Earth by the Sun every 15 minutes could meet the world’s electricity needs for a year.

If any of this is surprising … if you need help with understanding alternative energies …. You’ve come to the right place.
