Alternative Energy Interest in alternative and especially 'sustainable' and 'renewable' forms of energy has grown massively in recent years as we have realised both the environmental damage caused by burning fossil fuels and, perhaps even more importantly, the limited stocks left. This 'interest' is not theoretical or academic ... this is an issue that affects us all. We all know that a falling supply of a necessary resource increases prices ... and we are all feeling some of the associated pain. Can alternative forms of energy fill the supply gap ... and help the planet? Possibly!
This is an area of differing views. But it is an area that we need to explore and understand ... so that we take rational decisions relating to our own energy generation or use. At least the study of renewable and sustainable energy is positive ... at best it helps build a more secure future; at worst it prolongs what for many of us is a comfortable present. For our organisations, remember that the true meaning of 'energy' is "the capacity to do work". Without energy, we cannot sustain our organisations |
